PUBLIC USB PORT SECURITY

One of the nice things about the Fediverse is the breadth of people you find. I am now subscribed to Kushal’s blog which discusses privacy, security and FOSS.

A recent post included a report by US Authorities on the dangers of using Public USB ports.  I decided to share here to help spread awareness of this.   Sounds like there are some simple precautions that one can take in order to mitigate some of these risks.  A good reason to also carry a portable USB power pack around just in case your device needs that quick boost of power, until I guess you find a safe place to charge it.

Please feel free to discuss further on friendi.ca You can also discuss the above topic on Kushal’s IRC channel on freenode.   If you don’t have a IRC client set up then you can use the webchat facility.
