VLC – SINGLE INSTANCE

By Default VLC media player (Lubuntu 12.10) starts a new instance each time you play a track, this wastes resources,

the following steps will set it up to only allow one instance.

Open up VLC player

vlc1

Click tools menu and Select preferences, you will see the following screen

vlc-pref

Under INSTANCES

Check the Allow only one instance and press Save.

Now when you load a new track up it will use less memory and only have one instance open at a time, ┬áIf you’re using Lubuntu you will notice the bottom right corner fill up with icons if you don’t do this most of which will open up an empty instance of VLC.
